Lynn AUrelie, My Sister’s Keeper: The N + E Chapter | ArtsWorcester

My Sister’s Keeper: The N + E Chapter, archival pigment print, 16” × 20”, 2022

This photograph of two Ghanaian sisters, N and E, captured in 2022, is on view at ArtsWorcester, offered in response to the Fitchburg Art Museum’s Madonna and Child. By placing these two pieces in conversation I am drawing a bridge between two kinds of storge love- the nurturing bond between family members. The sculpture speaks to the sacred bond between a mother and her child. The photograph speaks to the quiet guardianship of sibling love. I hope it captures the intimacy and joy of sisterhood, brotherhood, familial love, childhood wonder, and the freedom of being young and held and seen and loved softly!
